Pune Behavioural Economics Meetup – Feb 2020

Date: 16th February (Sunday); Time: 10 AM – 1 PM
Venue: Kale Memorial Hall (GIPE), Pune

The benefits of understanding why people do what they do has proven to be very useful in solving diverse behavioural challenges (of individuals & groups) across the globe with very cost effective interventions. In India, there has been a rapidly growing interest and enthusiasm for behavioural economics in the past few years; with organisations and policymakers including NITI Ayog exploring opportunities to apply the findings from the field in practice.

To keep the momentum going, SDG Centre of Excellence and Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE) invite you to a one of its kind meetup with Prof. Dilip Soman, Biju Dominic and Dr. Savita Kulkarni on 16th February at GIPE, Pune. The meetup will involve engaging and thought provoking talks from those at the frontier of behavioural economics with an opportunity to network with fellow enthusiasts.

Prof. Soman is a Canada Research Chair in Behavioural Science and Economics, and serves as a Director of the Behavioural Economics in Action Research Centre at Rotman [BEAR], University of Toronto. He is also the author of Last Mile: Creating Social and Economic Value from Behavioural Insights. His super successful course ‘Behavioral Economics in Action‘ on EdX has been immensely helpful for behavioural enthusiasts around the globe.

Biju is the CEO of Final Mile Consulting, a behavioural science practice firm that is solving tough behavioural problems across the globe in both commercial and development sectors. Final Mile pioneered the development of Behavior Architecture™ by combining learnings from the fields of Cognitive Neuroscience, Behavioral Economics and Design.

Why be there?
Understanding behaviour is a big challenge that encompasses every other problem when it comes to influencing behaviour – our own and others. Behavioural Economics attempts to address this challenge by exploring the decision making processes we undergo, and provides us tools to make better choices everyday. It is a field of study dedicated to understanding the ‘why’ that underlies our decisions.

If you are always curious about the ‘why’ of things; believe that understanding behaviour can help reframe your own life better and contribute to positive changes around you, this cool science can give you some answers and tools to work on.

We have limited seats, so register yourself online asap!
Look forward to seeing you there!
